WHAT WE BELIEVE

1. In one true and living God, eternally existing and revealed to us as the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ, God incarnate), and the Holy Spirit (Matt. 28:19, I John. 1:1,14).

2. In the deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, substitutionary death for our sins, bodily resurrection, ascension unto God, and imminent return in power and glory (Matt. 1:21-25, Isa. 53:5, Matt. 28:5-6; Acts 1:9; John 14:3).

3. The Holy Scriptures are the inspired, inherent, and complete revelation of God's will for man. It is in the Bible that God reveals His plan of salvation (through the grace of Jesus Christ), as well as His will for our daily lives (II Tim. 3:16-17; I Peter 1:23-25; Heb. 4:12).

4. Man was created in God's image. By voluntary transgression man fell and his only hope of redemption is through God's Son, Jesus Christ (Gen. 1:26-31, 3:1-7; Rom. 5:12-21).

5. Men are saved solely through faith in God's grace, as displayed in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

  • (a) Salvation is received by believing in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead and by confessing with your mouth, Jesus as your Lord (Rom. 3:24, 10:8-10).
  • (b) The inward evidence of salvation, to the believer, is the direct witness of the Spirit (Rom. 8:16). The outward evidence to all men is a life of true holiness and love (I John. 3:23; John. 13:35).
  • (c) Salvation is by faith in Jesus Christ and not by human works. However our works are evidence of our faith and will determine our rewards in eternity (Rom. 10:9-10, 14:10-12; II Cor. 5:10; Eph. 2:8-9; Titus 3:5-7; James 2:18).

6. In water baptism as a public declaration to the world that a believer has died with Christ and has risen with Him to walk a life of holiness and love (Matt. 28:19; Acts 10:47-48; Rom. 6:4).

7. In the unity of all true believers as Members of the universal Church (the Body of Christ) regardless of denominational affiliation (Eph. 1:22, 2:19-22; Heb. 12:23).

8. In the celebration of the Lord's Supper as a remembrance of Jesus (I Cor. 11:24-30).

9. In the ministry of the Holy Spirit:

  • By the inward witness of salvation to the believer (Romans 8:16).
  • By daily guidance and the growth of Christ-like character (John 16:13; Galatians 5:22-23).
  • By the baptism of the Holy Spirit, an experience distinct from and subsequent to the new birth, evidenced initially by speaking with other tongues, and subsequently by the manifestation of spiritual power in public testimony and service (Acts 1:8, 2:4, 10:44-46, 19:2,6). All believers are entitled to, and should ardently expect and earnestly seek, this promise of the Father (Acts 2:38-39).

10. That Jesus Christ is coming again to gather His saints unto Himself (I Cor. 15:51-52; I Thess. 4:16-17; II Thess. 2:1). Those who have not accepted the redemptive work of Jesus Christ will suffer eternal separation from the Godhead in the Lake of Fire (2 Thess. 1:7-10; Rev. 19:20, 20:10-15).

11. In the Millennial Reign of Jesus. The Lord Jesus Christ will return with His saints from Heaven to rule and reign on the earth for one thousand years as the Scriptures have promised (Rev. 19:11-16, 20:1-4). After this, there will be a new heaven and a new earth (Rev. 21:1-4).

CHURCH HISTORY

The Church was founded on June 6, 1982 as Victory Life Fellowship and later was named Calgary Family Church. Pastors Willie and Laura Dueck served under Pastor Len & Ingrid Zoeteman until they resigned in 2000. At this time Willie and Laura Dueck were set in as the new Pastors. The church is now called New Beginnings Family Church and we are excited about all the new things God has in store and the new beginning that He wants to bring into people's lives.

New Beginnings Family Church is involved with Canadian Fellowship of Churches and Ministries (CFCM), also Calgary Evangelical Ministerial Association (CEMA),  and City Wide Prayer Meetings in the City of Calgary.
